Day 3 of a planned 5 day ‘no solid food’ fast
Blood sugar 100 mg/dL

🏋🏾 Yesterday I had to reduce my weight lifting from 200lbs to 180lbs. I COULD have done 200lbs, but, I think I would have risked injury. I will try to get back up to 200lbs when I start my 'bulking phase' (gaining weight) in two weeks.

🧘🏾‍♂️ I am in ‘weight maintenance’ and have been for 3 months. Back in August I got down to 163lbs and this turned out to me ‘too low’ for me and I felt I looked like crap. I started weightlifting really aggressively and built up a lot of muscle since then. So, while my weight has averaged 170lbs for the past three months, my body fat percentage has been reduced (according to my scale that measures body fat percentage).

👍🏾 So, It appears I will remain at ‘this level’ if I continue to do what I have been doing. So, what have I been doing?

• Not eating solid food 5 days a week
• Lifting weights 3 days a week
• Running 20 miles a week
• Averaging 60 carbs and 1500 calories a day

The question is, am I willing to continue to do this all my life? The answer may surprise you, Heck no! I don't do ANYTHING the same for-the-rest-of-my-life.

I would not have lost the weight I did if I took the position: "I am going to adopt a way of living that I will do for the rest of my life".

I have NEVER been able to achieve such lofty goals in the past and it would be 'hubris' for me to declare that I suddenly can do it now.

I can only do the best I can right now. 📉 This is why I track everything on Fat Secret, because it allows me to judge what works.

What has worked:

🌟 Carbs matter. I would be stupid if I can see, from my numbers that when I consume high carbs I gain weight rapidly. Yes, I must reduce my calories to lose weight, but, I must also reduce my carbs. Until I accepted that I stayed fat.

🌟 I only need 1500 calories a day. No, there is nothing wrong with my metabolism that needs to be fixed. I'm 50 years old! Again, until I accepted that I stayed fat.

😎 Life is Good! Have a great day everyone!

So do you know what you DO plan to do for food/exercise for the rest of your life or isn't there a plan for that yet? You are at that place where you are proud of your body - which you definitely should be!! That is so awesome!!

@nikeit - I know I can't stick to anything for the rest of my life, but, whatever my plan, be it OMAD or whatever, I need to hit these numbers to 'maintain' my weight. Now, as I get older I will have to drop the calories. I don't know any older person, who is not fat, that can eat as much as I eat now.

I don't know - if you stay active (which you really like) you may be able to stay at those calories - even if not quite at the activity level you are now which is so great - I would like to be 1% as active as you are!

@nikeit - I 'Hope' to be this active at say 65. But, while I may be able to run at 70, I doubt I could squat 250lbs (I hope to be up to that by next year).
