Päiväkirja - binkytexas, 04 loka 19

Saw hip doctor today and have a variety of things wrong. Some of the damage is not reversible. Have been doing the stretches I was given and it hasn't helped. Setting up physical therapy next week.

Still going to do everything I can to stay mobile, even if it is just walking and playing with my puppy. Light housework, cooking, playing fetch...every bit helps!!

Your mobility sounds a lot like mine - little things do add up. I hope that the physical therapy can help you out, too.

Thank you nikeit. Your pup looks cute! I'm betting you get a lot of mobility playing together?!?! :)

Sorry to hear about your physical problems. Stick with the PT - it's a pain, but it will probably help a lot. Glad to have you in the Daily Accountability challenges with us! Keep up the good work!

Binky❤️ sorry about your hip and pain friend. We have to find other forms of exercise. That’s tough with stretching. Physical Therapy and aqua therapy.

Be sure to keep your renal dietician seriously involved in your diet and food choices. As you know, what YOU can eat is not what others here are necessarily eating.

Right there with you! My PT has been awesome. She has helped tremendously with my knees, back and getting my core back on center. I do land and swim.

Kenna, I was just talking to my dietitian yesterday about potatoes. The only thing we're working on is Albumin/protein. It is either right on target or just below. Two weeks ago SHE SUGGESTED PEANUT BUTTER, which I hadn't had in 5 years. Apparently new studies show it is comparable to ground meat! Go figure...I said I don't love peanut butter and would rather measure out almonds. She said if I'm keeping my potassium under 2000mg then I'm fine. Bloodwork has had perfect potassium for 3 years, phosphorus has had blips 2 times in 3 years. Taking blood on Monday! I always scan my results into the computer so I have kept track of every bloodwork since I started dialysis. What is telling is that I already measured foods like spinach when I started dialysis, or soaking potatoes. FS is teaching me to measure foods I didn't really watch before, like chicken.

Debbie, jcmama, and diana: I was in PT for 4 years (2001-2005) after 4 back surgeries. At the age of 30 I had to walk with a walker. Then I could walk alone. By 2005, in the gym doing the elliptical or the bike. I am a believer in PT and keeping mobile. I have admiration for healthcare workers and know that they are miracle workers. My surgeon and Rusty (my old PT) literally changed my life. I just have to learn what new exercises will help now! I'm pumped to start.

diana, I'm going to ask for core exercises too!!! Thanks for the reminder

I hear ya Binky. PT is great but 3-4 x a week for 4 weeks gets daunting. My rheumatologist wants me to do aqua therapy. I’m trying yoga. That’s been helpful 😊

Thanks binky - my dog is pretty old now so we don't get much exercise anymore but she used to put me through my paces - she has always been kind of crazy (in a good way). Your pup is darling - that picture makes me want to just give her a hug :)

Or give HIM a hug as the case may be - mine is a girl so I call all dogs her...

jcmama, tell me what works for you in the water!!! nikeet, Binky is a girl too. What kind of doggie is your girl? Kenna, sorry for the TMI. I love the honest accountability you gave me. Sitting here again, counting up the potassium for yesterday and it was too close to 1000mg which is usually what I keep it under.

It’s just being lighter makes it easier to move more freely. With joint pain and erosion, we have to be more careful. It’s great for many conditions. My rheumatologist will write me a script for it just like PT, 3-4 x a week x 4weeks. A therapist will work in the water with you💜💚

Thanks jcmama777, going to ask about water too.

Sure💜💚 I think the aqua therapy would be very helpful 😊

My dog is named Sweetie and she is a jack russell / bichon frise mix - crazy and soft and fluffy at the same time :)

SO CUTE! LOVE the name. So wonder I couldn't place what kind she was...I love the mix that she is! You can tell she is soft and fluffy in the pic. Binky is from a dachshund rescue group. Her mother is a miniature dachshund (rescued while pregnant) and we think the father is a Chihuahua/mini dachshund mix due to how all of the litter turned out.

Rescue dogs are the best! Mine couldn't be a better friend. Have a great Sunday with Binky!
