I'm glad you enjoyed your trip! I usually have a hard time getting back to my WOE after a trip, especially when I eat a lot on the road

Yeah any interruption comes with that problem for sure. I think for me this time I will be able to go back. I feel motivated. And those snack episodes really scared me

woooo. good post! these thoughts go through my head daily. 😕 Being able to recognize it before "it" takes us back up is key. but what is "it" I ask myself! 🤔 Did you eat different things on your trip? Change your routine? What do you think it was? When I visit family for a week, I'm usually having to fight them the whole time. by the end I know I need to get home to my safe house! I live alone and it's super safe here! I should rent a room out to people who want to start carnivore 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Yes I was off my normal eating. No fighting it was my choice. So it was a bit wild how quickly I started to spend time going through cupboards looking for treats. Just goes to show how much power those things have over me.

I live with my youngest daughter and two teenaged grandsons. When I live alone, I just don't have certain things in the house. I have to say it's much harder to resist junk food when it's around all the time.

I allow myself extra treats on vacation, but don't go crazy. I'm usually not weighing myself or my food, either. I think the hardest part after I get home is fighting off feeling hungry. My usual "meal" times are 10-12, 4-5, 8ish. If I'm with others. I adapt to a more regular schedule, so at home, I feel hungry at different times. It usually takes a few days to feel back on track.

Glad you had a nice trip. Snacking is my issue too. I never heard of the Lyon protocol

Yes AncientHippie...lots of junk food here at home to but when I structure around my diet I just ignore them. It is kind of funny. I would be great if I was more normal but I have to work with what I got LOL

SheeyeB You do so well. I am a work in progress... I hope... Motivation can be an issue for me as well as plain self delusion.

Oh, Liv, I'm definitely a work in progress as well! That's why I'm still here logging 4+ years since I started. Keeping track of what goes in my mouth helps keep me focused.

Windy!!! I just heard about the Gabrielle Lyon some months ago when someone (Run4Life) recommended her book, Forever Strong. She believes that your muscle is maybe your most important organ and that you should always eat to build it and protect it. She recommends very high protein...and that your focus of your diet needs to be on different protein components, the amino acids. For me it would be something to focus on that would take my mind off nuts and chocolate and that kind of stuff...

Oh I remember that post now. I can believe that. Very interesting and sounds like a smart protocol. I wonder what she recommends for daily protein intake. I'm trying to up mine as well

She recommends a lot. I think it depends on your weight and what you are trying to do such as maintain or lose weight or gain muscle. But at least one gram for every lbs you weigh I think she says to eat about 30 to 50 grams per meal. But it is just about protein for her. It has to be the right cocktail of those components as well
