Taking a diet break until 10/21 to see if I can get a reset. The goal is to stop counting calories and relax but not to eat everything I possibly can. I'm still going to lift every day- because that's what I do and I am still going to weigh in every day so you can all see what happens. I am mentally prepared to see the numbers climb. I don't know how high the scale will get in just 4 days but I know it won't be fat. I think I mentally and physically need a break- from the diet part- not the lifting part. I'll never stop lifting and it'll probably be easier and more fun with 2000-2300 cal a day as opposed to 1600-1700. Wish me luck. Later, friends! P.s. Anybody else done this recently and gotten good results? I fear that 4 days isn't going to reset anything but I am afraid to do a week or 2 so I pray this works. Here goes nothin'!

Hope it works out for you! Not sure exactly what you mean by reset. But if you still weigh yourself every day you shouldn't run into too much of a problem.

are you lifting to be in a competition? I can see the point of lifting to get toned up I guess I'm just old-fashioned

I just did a reset this last weekend. I did too many low calorie days and fasts in Sept. I stalled, and I felt I was chasing the scale instead of getting healthier. I deliberately overate Fri-Mon to remind my body I be chunky. :-) I went up 5 lbs from Friday morning to Tuesday morning. As of this morning, I am 2 lbs away from my Friday weight. I felt I needed a mental reset along with a calorie reset. They usually help me. I did slightly struggle on Tues to get back into my OMAD. I wanted candy sooooo bad, but my calories were already accounted for, but by Wed, easy peasy. My next mental break will be Thanksgiving. I still will track, but I will not limit. I always plan out my breaks, and there is usually a drop I like soon after.

Only 1600 cals?? That is torturous! I am simply ravenous on days I workout ❤️ Enjoy the nourishment You deserve it!

I’ve taken “breaks” but have tried to record as much as I can. I’d say that I was better for it when I got back into eating better and exercising more. This week has been good to me after 4 days away from the gym. Lots of new maxes!

I did a reset recently where I upped my calories and didn't limit anything. I was waiting for the gain but never happened. Not sure if I needed more calories to push things along but it worked for me. I wish you luck.

We all need a break sometimes. Counting calories, planning, meal prep and dieting is all hard work! Enjoy your break.

Hope the break gives you the results you're looking for. Perhaps thinking about this time as developing new, healthier eating habits rather than "being on a diet" would reduce your need to "take a break." I look forward to the results of your eating without counting calories; that's how I lived the first 45 years of my life (without being overweight). Wishing you a very successful reset! 💛💜💚

Oooo Chris! I like the idea of a 2 week average. I might try that

I am certain you will be fine, and a shift in focus for a bit could be really good! 😁

This link explains it all very clearly. Jessa and Tatauu- that is what I am talking about! @Shirfleur- I don't mean "diet" in a negative way. The way I eat is not anything restrictive. I don't feel like I need a break from it because I want donuts- I want a break from it with hopes it will reverse metabolic adaptations. I'm down 53 or so pounds and haven't had a break for more than a couple days. It recommends 10-14 days in the article- but I'm going to see if this 4 day break is enough.

Clairsheart- I lift because I have a goal if being incredibly fit and muscular. It is what I do for exercise and the article suggests that the lifting/training continue during the "diet break".

And thanks everyone for your support and comments- Fritzy, Dawnie, L2E, Liv, UKcats, Ada, Chris, HCB, and Melissa. I can deal with the scale moving slowly- but I can't deal with it not moving at all and I want to eat more, not less. 🤸🏻‍♂️💪🏻💗

I fully support diet breaks!! I think confusing the body every so often is a good thing, keeps her on her toes! Enjoy your 2000+ calorie days, I’ll be thinking of you and your delicious food! 😂💕💪

You'll be fine, just stick to your plan, cause 2300 cals can become 3500 pretty easily! Lol.. enjoy your break!
